For the love Patrick
16 years ago I had the opportunity to become a foster parent for a one pound baby boy. His mom was 14 years old and a drug user. Social Service placed Patrick in our care until they were able to locate some one who could care for Patrick. I remember the day that I brought Patrick to our home. He was so small and frail but yet so strong. Patrick stayed in our home for 6 months until a relative came and adopted him. The love that we had for Patrick was a love that ran deeper than foster care. Patrick was our baby and we loved him and to loose him was a great loss. I am so greateful that he was part of our life if only for a short time.

I completely know what you went through. Almost two years ago, I got a 16 year old who was 4 months pregnant. I went through her pregnancy, was in the delivery room when the baby was born and took on the role as "grandma" when both "mom" and "baby" were released from the hospital. "Mom" decided she was not ready to be a mom so I took on that role for 9 months. "Mom" left for two months then decided that she wanted "baby" back so at 9 months, "mom" and "baby" were placed at a group home for teen moms. Letting go broke my heart!! The last two months have been extremely hard for myself and my children. We love "mom" and "baby" like they were our own. Thankfully, we have been able to regain contact and hope to be a part of their life forever. Only time will tell.
